Shivraj Singh Chouhan Drives Rural Transformation in Sehore to Boost Agriculture
Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, partnered with Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav of Madhya Pradesh to inaugurate and lay the foundation for a few major development projects in Sehore district, Madhya Pradesh. The projects, in crores of investment, will significantly boost rural infrastructure and agricultural development across the area.
Speaking to the crowd, Shri Chouhan highlighted the important emphasis on rural development in attaining the national vision of Viksit Bharat on 2047.“Village progress is central to India’s progress. Empowering rural communities through active public participation is the way forward,” he remarked.
Key Highlights of the Announcements:
Narmada Water for Farmlands: Shri Chouhan reiterated ongoing efforts to bring Narmada river water to Sehore and its agricultural belts, including Ashta and Ichhawar.This initiative will likely enhance irrigation access for farmers in the area.
Bhopal to be metropolitan: The designation of “urban agglomeration” will provide cities such as Sehore with new potential benefits in infrastructure, connectivity, and other socio-economic development areas.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY): 7.85 lakh more houses will be approved for the PMAY (the 2018+ list already include 14 lakh houses). The minister mentioned they would also include those newly eligible families from rural areas after verification surveys.
MGNREGA Funding to boost rural employment: Madhya Pradesh will get approximately ₹6,262 crore from MGNREGA, with a goal to improve the livelihoods of people in rural areas by providing employment and building infrastructure.
Women Empowerment Milestone: In describing a major accomplishment, Shri Chouhan stated that 1.48 crore women in the state have become ‘Lakhpati Didis’ (that’s ₹1 lakh or more per year). He stated that the government was committed to continue investing to grow that outreach to women’s financial independence.
Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan: In this agriculture-focused mission, over 16,000 agricultural scientists will be sent to villages to teach farmers real, practical solutions that are field-tested and ready to implement. Shri Chouhan encouraged farmers to adopt modern techniques in order to achieve higher yields and become sustainable.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav reinforced the state’s commitment to agricultural prosperity, promising expanded irrigation coverage and assured water supply to every farm. “We will ensure every farmer receives the resources needed to maximize output and transform Madhya Pradesh into an agricultural powerhouse,” he stated.
